Final Critique: Wednesday July 23rd at 2pm
The Final Critique will be on Wednesday July 23rd at 2pm.
You should have one finished color drawing of the still life in class for the critique.
Also, You should have an egg drawing created using value. It doesn't have to be any larger than 8x10 and just needs to demonstrate you ability to create a realistic drawing using value. It can be a group of eggs or one single egg. Needs to be on white paper using charcoal or graphite or a mix if you choose.
Finally, remember to remove all your work and materials from the flat file drawings in the studio area before August 28th. The school will come through and clean out these drawers for the next group who will be entering in the fall semester.
Hang on to all your drawings. Please feel free to download any of the images from this blog for your files. It's a great "scrapbook" and archive of what we all did this summer of 2014 at GSU.
I've enjoyed it tremendously and am lucky to have spent the semester with each of you. I really do love being around artist who are learning to draw or practicing how to draw....afterall, it's really about seeing and experimenting and just being engaged in the process.
It's not always about the final outcome but about the experience of just drawing and being around others in a creative environment. I feel like I gave you 100% and hopefully that was demonstrated with encouragement, critical feedback and setting up exciting still life examples in the studio for you to draw.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and keep drawing. Keep a sketchbook or go to some of the local places that have figure models for you to draw (Apache Cafe.) If I can do anything for you while you are at GSU or after you graduate don't hesitate to give a yell. I don't forget my students and am always interested in where you go, what you're doing and how your life is going.
Find something you love to do and pursue it with wild abandon. From my side of things, the best things that happens to a person in this life is just showing up for it and being present in the moment.
